How long have you been strength training?
I've been lifting weights since the age of 17.
What is your favorite exercise and why?
Squats!! I've always loved leg exercises. It's my favorite body part.
What is your least favorite exercise and why?
My least favorite is cardio because I haven't mastered my breathing yet so sometimes it's difficult to catch my breath.
What advice would you give a woman that wants to start a strength training routine?
Go for it!! Pull your motivation from wherever you need and just do it!! My motivation, first and foremost is to live a healthy lifestyle and be a role model to my daughters.
Secondly, it's "MY" time. We as women wear many hats (mom, wife, cook, etc.), so my working out is my treat to myself.
And don't worry, lifting heavy will not make you LOOK LIKE A MAN!
Any last thoughts?
Keep your focus and determination. Set a goal and stick to it by all means. Take all of your emotions whether good, bad, angry, whatever it takes, and use it to fuel your workout.
Never try to compete against anyone else, compete and strive to be better than yesterdays you. This is the only body you have so take care of it.
